Do I need to give back account details in order to be given a cheque?

Or does it just need to be written out in my name?

All it needs on it is your name - ideally in the same form that is used on your bank account.

Absolutely not. If someone giving you a cheque asks your bank account details, I would question the reason why.

The cheque should just have your name on it. No bank details needed as you will be the one to pay it into your bank.

It just needs your name on it, so it's obvious who it's meant for. You have to pay it in to your bank yourself, so your bank knows what account details to pay it into when you take it there. You only need to give bank account details to someone if they want to pay you online, so there isn't that extra stage of you having to pay it into your account.

Nope. Just your full name. You put it into your bank account.
