I have some questions for shih tzu owners!?
I'm thinking of getting a shih tzu and I would like owners to give me their experiences with the breed. Also what is the best way to potty train them and how hard is it? I've never had experience with small breeds so any personal tips will do. (I had a golden retriever but i'm hearing they're completely different)

I got a boy and my friend got a girl from the same litter… we found that the girl was extremely strong willed compared to the boy. If the girl didn't want to do something it wasn't happening.
We both had good potty training experiences because the owners had originally began training them before we bought them. The only issue lied in the fact that they have a low body - so if you have lots of stairs to travel for them to use the bathroom they can be a little stubborn. But with any dog patience pays off.
One thing though is their medical bills can get costly due to how they are built and grooming in a pain - I never thought a dog could get so dirty until I got mine and took him out for a walk when there was some mud out.
I did find though that they were both pretty nippy - a few good taps after they nipped set them straight though.
