Do you agree with the 50k fine slapped on Kidd?
In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, Jason Kidd took to an oldschool coaching trick, trying to get more more time by spilling a drink onto the floor in the last few seconds of the Nets-Lakers game.
The czar Mike Fratello himself said coaches back in his day do that all the time.
Do you agree that Kidd should be slapped 50 thou for that? I thought it was a bit creative :)

I don't think a $50K fine is much of a deterrent. It's like the flopping fine... if the game is important enough, players or coaches are going to do it anyway, if it helps them win the game.
jwbulldogs has the right idea. If something happens on a teams bench that causes a stoppage of play, then the team should be assessed a time out. If they have no time outs left, then they should face the same penalty as a team that tries to call a timeout when they don't have any left. If the team has the ball, they're are assessed a technical foul and lose possession. If they don't have the ball, the opposing team shots two technical free throws and retains possession.

I don't know how much the fine should be, but there should be something in place to stop him from bending the rules like this again.
In football if you fake an injury at the end of a game you are charged a timeout. If there are no time outs you lose a down. I would agree with a huge fine, a technical foul, and loss of possession. If they implement that rule no one would do this again.
I did like that 2 of the Lakers player were smart enough to go stand in the huddle to stop the assistant coach from setting up a play.
As a coach I've had my players go stand in a listen too when coaches try to give their guys a play without using a time out. Players are allowed to go anywhere on the court if there are no timeouts.

I agree with you that it was creative and I like Kidd for doing it.
However he did deserve the fine.
I'm sure he doesn't regret it. It gave them a better chance to win the game.

If he wouldn't of got caught it would of been a smooth move, but its comedy hour over there on the Nets. Jodie Meeks sitting in the middle of their huddle when they were drawing up the play. Kidd is way over his head.
