  • Yes.

Mark Fraser led the league in plus-minus last year. Other than being slow, and not being able to execute breakout passes at the NHL level, he's a fine defenceman. And he's a third pairing defenceman on a team with craptacular possession and shot attempt numbers.

    It's a useless stat.

It used to be. Now with all the "advanced stats" there are a whole lot more that make less sense and are even less of a measure of ability.

Wins - losses, goals for and against. These are the only stats that truly matter. As my grandmother used to say, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating."

It's not an irrelevant stat but I can relate to thinking about it when you scored on as i played hockey too. Honestly Daley is just thinking about it too hard. Beginning of the game you get scored on and you think about throughout the game, then he's just too distracted by it.

Yes, I can see where he is coming from, however I feel that it is a good stat to have.

I think it's up there for being the worst. I'm not sure that a player's +/- is really a reflection of how good that player is.

It's important for defense men. A defense men should take pride in having a good +/-.
