I know some are not from the exact era but I place them in the era they were most popular in. These aren't the most popular on their eras, they are some of my personal favorites.

I'm being a rock fan last 15 years, have heard and liked bands across various eras, genres, sub-genres and nationalities, and I think there's no doubt it's Britain. America too has produced many good bands like Doors, CCR, Pearl Jam (even though personally I prefer Nirvana) but most of the bands from USA post-grunge era have been just too commercialized, non-creative, rageful, loud or ranty.

Britain, except for the 90s, when it was probably America (Nirvana and Pearl Jam are awesome)
Jack Hawk - Sum 41 don't come from America, they are from Canada. They are a good band, just not from America.

Honestly Britain

Not even a contest. The only good bands America have produced are Blink 182, Sum 41, Black Keys, The Doors and The Jimi Hendrix experience. Even though they were mostly British.
Britain on the other hand can claim The Beatles, Kinks, Stones, Who, Led, Cream, Clapton, Clash, Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, The Cult, The Specials, Stone Roses, Oasis, Blur, Coldplay, McFly, Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis.
LOOOL at MC. Probably a hipster indie/metal fag who thinks that The Beatles are bad and Nirvana are good XD

A tie of sorts. Considering the population difference Brittan is doing quite well.
I think Britain had a definite edge from the mid 80s to the late 90s.

It definitely seems like you're trying to name the worst bands from each country lol
