    It's a scam

NOBODY hires a nanny before meeting them. Would YOU trust some random person on Craigslist to watch your child??? NOBODY pays a nanny before they start

This is not a nanny job, it's felony money laundering that will land you in jail. If you get a check DO NOT cash it. Turn it over to the police

You NEVER give your home address to anyone on Craigslist and NEVER accept a nanny job until you have met the employer AND their kids at THEIR home accompanied by another person. There are so many perverts who have raped or tried to rape girls looking for nanny jobs

Tell the police - you potentially gave your address to a sex offender. They post fake nanny jobs knowing they attract young women. Pictures mean nothing. A picture will only come up in a Google Images search if it's been used as a PROFILE picture on another site. But if a scammer steals pictures from someone's Albums on Facebook, they don't show up in a Google Images search

Plus you would be crazy to accept a nanny job from anyone without meeting the kids even if it were real. You have no idea these kids are not complete terrors and every other babysitter turns them down once they meet them. You don't know that the husband is not a pervert who tries to sleep with every nanny. You don't know that the wife is not a complete witch

This is 100% a SCAM This man now has everything he needs to steal your identity. If you cash that check, he will have your bank routing number and account number. He's already made a fake drivers license with your name and his photo. Once you cash that check, he looks at your account number, walks into any branch of your bank, fills out a withdrawal slip with you account number on it, walks up to the window, pretends he forgot his ATM card but shows his "license" as proof of ID, and empties your account You first need to report your driver's license stolen to the DMV so they can cancel that one and issue you a new one. Also report this to your local police NOBODY would EVER hire a complete stranger to drive their daughter around. He knows nothing about you - he doesn't know that you aren't an alcoholic, that you are not a convicted sex offender, nothing. NOBODY hires people they have never met IN PERSON unless they are booking through a licensed car service that conducts full background checks on their employees. And NOBODY pays you before you start When you get that check, it won't be for $600 - it will be for over $1600 and he'll want you to wire money to someone through Western Union/Moneygram. Turn that check and any emails you received printed with full headers to your local police and report that you were conned with a check scam and let them investigate But the safest thing you can do is NOT accept the check at all. Normally they send these through UPS or FedEx, not normal mail. Just refuse delivery. Tell anyone you live with to refuse delivery. If you sign for it, then they know where you live and will threaten you. If you refuse delivery they will assume you were trying to scam them and gave them a fake name and they won't bother you. This is not some rogue individual - the people running this scam are part of a criminal gang

The sad thing is... Craigslist is filled with lots of scammers and con artists. I heard a story a couple of months ago about a man who responded to a Craigslist ad about a cell phone for sale. When he showed up.. he was shot in front of his kid and robbed.

I myself have bought and sold stuff many times without any problem... but I always meet in public place for the exchange. There is nothing you can do... and it would probably be best to break all contact and ignore any future emails from this person. For a nanny-type job... you should go to an agency.

Yes, welcome to the Craigslist scam club, everybody is a member, people troll the ads everyday. I had a guy wanting to buy my truck sight unseen and pay full amount plus pay-pal expense, I said, you sound like a scam, never heard from him again. Still have his number though. I used to advertize scrap computer pickup on Craigslist, every time somebody would flag it, Found out it was a competitor. A greedy one at that.

Well lets see how I respond to this one first off Craigslist has a bunch of weirdos and just cause they tell you they have a job for you doesn't mean give them any info about yourself. For future purposes you get a copy of their licences or ss card if they are serious about hiring you they shouldnt say no. The first thing you can do is change your number to private and activate your voicemail to screen people. Second have your number taken out of the white pages, you can have it removed by becoming "Unlisted". Should help k
