Headphones for use with television?

My father is mostly deaf and has to turn the television up very loud most of the time to hear anything. Causing everyone else to be unconformable. I'm looking into buying him headphones so he can hear better and everyone else can enjoy the television.

However my question is will I be able to plug the headphones into the home theater system(that is where the audio comes from) and get audio not only in the headphones but still get audio so everyone else can hear? Is there a special type of headphones I need to buy?

The best way is to use wireless headphones.

    Connect to:

    Option 1: TV Audio Output

    if non available

    Option 2: Cablebox Audio Output.

I would recommend Sennheiser from www.hifiheadphones.ca

If the TV has an optical output (SPDIF) the Digi-Whizz TV Headphone amplifier could be used. It is not wireless but amplifies the audio to a high level for the hard of hearing. Wired headphones tend to have better clarity as it is direct audio (not digitised and compressed as with wireless).

The downside is you have a wire to the headphones but I have got used to this.

i don't think so because when you plug a wire into the headphone jack the audio goes right there sorry what you can do is get amplifiers that he can put in like headphones and you put the mic by the speakers or tv
