My son is a young writer he is 13 by the way and he likes a lot of fiction and he also likes writing. He wanted me to come here and ask for story ideas.

Maybe some of these words and terms might help him decide or give him ideas on any kind of stories or what kind he wants to write about and the plot, sub plot, era and type of characters of the story.

Yeah, right. I admit this is a new one. Very inventive way to ask for help on your story. Usually people go for the fictional "friend," but the fact that you changed it up by going for the fictional "son" makes it at least fresh. Bottom line, I will tell you what I tell all wannabe writers who come here asking this question. If you want to write and it is supposedly something you "like" doing, it seems to me you would come up with your own ideas. Try having an idea THEN deciding to write a story. That tends to be more effective than deciding "I want to write a story. But what do I do about a plot." This answer works even if you do have an actual thirteen year old son who wants to write, yet ironically was too lazy even to type this question for himself. Doesn't bode well for him finishing an actual story even if he does get ideas, hmm?

try an adventure kinda like Narnia
have him write about what he would do if stranded on an island
maybe if he likes history, he could write about what he would do in a certain time period
