Is the notebook for Anna Magdalena a good place to start learning Bach for piano?

I can play the Praeludium BWV 846 by Bach well enough, but I found the inventions a little difficult and taking too long to learn. Would notebook for Anna Magdalena be a good place to start?

The Notebook for Anna Magdalena (1725) - or most usually selections from it, which you will find in albums like **First Lessons in Bach**, ed. Schirmer - is used all over the world by piano teachers as an introduction to JS Bach's works, although a dozen pieces actually are not by Bach himself.

    So, yes - most definitely!

You will find some wonderful music in a piano solo "collection," as it would be designated on a site that sells piano and other music. You probably need to look for intermediate or late intermediate level works. There are too many pieces to just name a few. Even though Yiruma seems to have very little respect among serious musicians, he has his place in providing interest to teens. However, one or two of his pieces will be enough because of their similar tone--you can get his compositions through YesAsia. You'll get more variety, though, by not limiting yourself to a single composer, even among the classic greats. That's why I suggest a piano collection.

Yes, it is. You could also try his 2-part Inventions for Keyboard. They're really nice, too. Really lovely music.
