You could say that. The Republican Party drifted away from it's Conservative roots during the whole of the Bush Administration. It's lack of Conservatism is what was responsible for the addition of $5 trillion in debt and contributing to the mortgage meltdown.

The Tea Parties are average Conservatives, Libertarians and Independents fed up with the fiscal irresponsibility of the Republican Party. They were born to bring those principles back to the Party.

What did they get. Both parties are very angry with conservatives but these are the only people who will save our Republic. Somehow I don't believe that is where your interests lie. The Republicans will control both houses beginning in 2015. Then we shall see their real motivations.
