Some PSU only support SLI or crosfire?
I was looking at power supply's and noticed some mention they have support for SLI while others support SLI and cross fire x, why is that? Also my mobo shipped with an SLI finger, does that mean my board only supports SLI? Thanks my board is an ASus z87 plus

Supports NVIDIA® Quad-GPU SLI™ Technology With 2 PCIex16 graphics card.
Supports AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX™ Technology
Your motherboard SUPPORTS BOTH. (Only sli needs the finger, as sli requires 2 identical cards connected via that finger to work)
Crossfire works slightly different and the cards do not have to be identical but do need the same amount of RAM, otherwise both will work as the SLOWEST CARD with LOWEST RAM.
Most people with any sense put crossfire 2 identical cards too lol.
Being different brands, psu connections can be tricky, its best to read the spec of the psu first to find out not only does it have the connector for your card, but also how many connectors it has - for sli or crossfire you need 2 minimal :D

It just means they've been certified, and presumably tested by NVidia or AMD respectively for their intended uses. That's not to say you can't use a non-certified PSU for SLI and/or CrossfireX, assuming it has the right connectors and power ratings. It's just not "guaranteed" to work as such.
The Asus Z87 Plus does support both SLI and CrossfireX:
