how to make my dog less afraid of fighting other animals?
well I have a biggish Labrador mix and he is "courageous" you could say when it comes to other animals like coyote, coon, etc. but he is too afraid of getting bittin to really dispatch of the pests around my house, he defineatly scares them away but since he is afraid of getting bittin he rarely bites them. we have alot of animals around our farm and and he has done a fine job protecting it but since he doesn't kill any of the predators they keep sneaking back and killing chickens and ducks. i guess i'm asking if anyone knows how i can get him to be a little more rough and i don't want to tie up a coon and let him toy with it either any input would be good, thanks.

This cannot be a serious question. I refuse to believe that somebody is actually that stupid. If you care even the slightest bit for this poor dog you wouldn't encourage him or her to be going up against coyotes and such. Are you insane? You actually had the audacity to come here and ask how do you get your dog to go up against coyotes and other potentially dangerous animals. You actually have the nerve to act like something is wrong with him for being afraid. You don't even care about him getting bitten. That's ridiculous.Your dog could easily be killed or catch a life threatening disease that will eventually kill him. If you are worried about keeping your farm safe from predators that's what you and the rest of your family are there for. That's your job, not his or hers. You really need that dog taken away from you and placed in a home where he can be properly taken care of and loved. You may as well just delete your question because I highly doubt that anybody here is going to tell you how you can use your dog in such a way.

Is this a joke?
Protect your chickens and ducks better. That is what my family who has been farming for hundreds of years do. They have a dog that isn't afraid of coyotes but isn't the least bit aggressive - he is a wonderful dog. His marking alone keeps out most of the predators. My 15lb Shih Tzu actually chased him around the yard with his tail between his legs once, even though he is a 80lb+ GSD cross. Courageous and "brave" dogs tend to be stupid and die often, be lucky your dog is smart and sensible.
You don't want an aggressive dog. It is a liability to you if that dog harm anyone.
I'm not sure what any of the star'd out words are ... Tie up a what? Coyote, and what?

Labs werent bred to fight, maim or kill other animals - only retrieve.
Depending on the other breed too, dont expect all dogs to have strong prey drives - not all breeds have a strong prey drive and with mixes you're gonna get a mess of combined traits.
Your dog is already putting himself at risk by running the wild animals off of your property as it is - never expect a dog that isnt specifically bred and trained to do what you are asking. It's up to you to find a way to protect your ducks and chickens, dont rely on animal 100%. He's already dishing it out and putting himself at risk as it is.

He's not afraid - he's just sensible. Biting wild animals is an excellent way for him to get rabies, parasites, nasty bites. All he needs to do is scare them away, not try to kill them. Put up some fences and look at other ways to discourage foxes, coyotes, raccoons and the like.

Nothing you can do. He's doing his job just fine. You really want him to get in squabbles and get bitten by wild animals? Because he's wise about it and knows that's dumb and he doesn't want to be bitten. Get a gun if it's legal to or set traps or whatever, it's your job, your dog does his.

Are you kidding ???
There is no way he is going to go around killing animals and he shouldn't either.

He's a normal, healthy, well rounded dog.
