Do people think they are saved, when they ask Jesus in their heart?

Why did Jesus say that only few will find the way?

He also said the one that endures to the end will be saved. So more than just asking Jesus in the heart is needed. Our works have to prove we've accepted him. Sadly, many Christians fail in this regard.

I know I was saved. After I got saved, a Cross appeared on the wall. Now, there's no way that could have happened since the shades were open, the entire wall should've been bright. Instead, it was nearly the opposite. The only light that was on the wall was in the shape of a cross.

    Dear Friend,

There is no Scriptural basis that says anyone is saved by "asking Jesus into their heart." Nor walking to down an isle to an alter. Nor going to church. Think about that.

There are steps that a Christian takes:

    1. They humble themselves before God through the "conviction" of the Holy Spirit that they have "sinned" against Him. Violated His principles in their life.

    2. They are then "convinced" of their violation to a Holy God and agree with God they have sinned and need a Savior, Jesus.

    3. They then "repent" of what they've done. To repent, means to "stop" practicing (committing) wilful sin in their life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Once we learn that the burner on the stove top is "HOT" we stop...putting our hand on it. Once we learn what is displeasing to a Holy God through His Word, we stop doing those things.

God's desire is to commune/fellowship with His creation, but it is OUR sin that "blocks" that relationship. Adam and Eve had a perfect relationship with God "before" the fall of man. But it is only through the cleansing blood of Jesus Who was "without" sin, that He could pay OUR penalty of sin on the Cross on OUR behalf. And in doing so, reconcile us back into right standing with God so that our relationship with Him can be ...restored.

Being saved is just the benefit of being God's child. Having that personal intimate spiritual relationship is something FAR greater. The more a Christian reads God's Word and allows the Holy Spirit to teach them spiritual truth, the "closer" their relationship with God will be. It's an adventure my friend.

And yes, there will be only a few (no one knows how many a few are) that will make it into the kingdom; because man loves this world, themselves, etc. MORE than they do God. When we put God first in our lives, ...everything else will fall into place.

No one comes to God any way they 'think' they can. We come before a Holy God on His terms. Only. By surrendering our will, for His. God knows what is best for His creation. He's walked this life before us and knows the "safe" path to follow. I will follow Him.

God examines our heart. Our motive and intent.

    Tender blessings,

I think the best thing for you to do would be to pick up the bible and start reading the New Testament. Start with the Book of Mathew. It isn't a long book, you could read it in one or two sittings. But the short answer is no, you cannot be saved simply by "asking Jesus into your heart". Protestants seem to have this childishly simple idea of salvation, which came down to them from the heresies of Martin Luther. To be saved, a Christians needs to live a life that imitates Christ. Did Christ say all you have to do is believe in him? No. He did say that you need to believe, but there was much more to it than that. You need to cultivate goodness in yourself by attempting to live like Christ; you need to cultivate love for others that is unselfish; you need to follow the Ten Commandments; you need to be a charitable person whenever you have an excess of material wealth and possessions; you must not be hypocritical, or be judgemental of others. Perhaps most of all, you need to be a member of Christ's Church, the one he established himself before his death, the Church of the apostles - the Holy Orthodox Church. Now, this last point needs some qualification. It isn't as if you will go to hell if you never become Orthodox, but the Orthodox Church is the church that Jesus intended all the Christian faithful to be united in. He didn't want us to all go off in our own directions and make up our own churches with their own rules. What's the good in that? Christians need to be united to be a force of love in the world.

Note that I am not preaching to you, for if I was, I'd be acting like a hypocrite. Rather, I am just reciting to you basically what it says in the bible and what I've been taught.

    Yes

Few will find the way. A lot of people refuse the Gospel. Faith alone in Christ alone. Once Saved Always Saved. Paul writes in Romans ch 8 MANY bretheren in Heaven, likewise the bible teaches MANY mansions. (John 14:2)

1Peter 1:23: "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

John 5:24: "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life."

John 6:35-37: Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out."

John 10:27-29: "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch the

The Bible never mentions this phrase at all.

We are encouraged to die to be reborn by the Spirit.

It really is a zombie religion and we are dead to the deeds of the flesh and alive to the Spirit.

That is a pretty stupid way to become a religious person, you would think there would be a ritual or something.
