Prozac (fluoxetine) side effects? Help?
I'm starting 10mg of Prozac tomorrow. I have severe anxiety and OCD and mild depression. I've heard many mixed views about side effects from this. Can you tell me what you have experienced or what people you know have experienced? Anything would be appreciated, thanks. By the way I'm 14 almost 15

you need to understand that the obsessions are the unwanted thoughts that cause you anxiety, and the anxiety causes in you the urge to do the compulsions, which are the mental or physical rituals that you do in order to relieve your anxiety, but in between the urge to do the compulsions and the action of doing the compulsions, there is something called free will, which means that every time you do the compulsions, you choose to do them, they don't happen automatically or without control, so just as you can choose to do the compulsions, you can also chose not to do them, so you must stop doing the compulsions, and in order to stop doing the compulsions, you must choose not to do the compulsions every time you feel the urge to do the compulsions...
I think this might help you overcome your ocd...
and I think medication is not really necessary and might cause health problems...

Hi Maya
Well we are all different so....!
Wished I had never taken the blasted things!!! Nearly 16 year's of being on this and suffered: weight gain; severe headaches and always needing to sleep. When I tried to come off them, for they were useless for depression: woah the horrible rushing or whooshing feeling in my head was so unbearable, I ended up going back on them! Then finally, after visiting the dr who was pretty useless, I decided to go cold turkey and after a month, of this severe whooshing sensation that nearly drove me out of my mind, and panic attacks like 5 times in a day and anxiety like no bodies business with the feeling that I was going mad - all disappeared completely after a month! Even had a brain scan for something else and all that came back, was sinus problems, so no damage - thankfully and now, I don't ever get that whooshing feeling, that I hasten to add, I even got it when I was taking the damn tablet!!
I lost weight rapidly but alas not as much as I want.
Migrains - no more
Sleep - rarely need an afternoon sleep now and if I do, it is for 20mins, apposed to 4hrs!
Something else: I do not experience depression any more; meloncholy yep a bit, but managable; and for anxiety, I take a natural herbe that works wonders and without side effects: seditifpc
I know believe that prozac caused depression for me.
But again, this is only me I am talking about.
