How do you create an inspirational character for a story?
I do a lot of writing just for fun, but lately I've gotten more serious with the idea of maybe actually writing a book. I have a great idea for a plot, but I'm having trouble really bringing the characters to life. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

The biggest inspirational characters are characters who are more then what they seem, for example a dark past, a well deserved grudge they ignore, usually something bad that they look over.
Sometimes they can die without ever having become a better person, but having expressed their desire to become a better person, or what they would do. This makes them an inspiring person in the eyes of the protagonist, and hopefully through them, the readers.
You could have someone screw up big time, and do something big in the end, but better to give this to a very minor character since it's overdone with significant ones. It'll make the effect better
Here are some good inspirational characters, just some of my favorites, look them up, it might help.
Ripred - The Underland Chronicles
Dionysus - Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief (comes out strong in book 4 and 5)
Severus Snape - But come on, who doesn't know about him
General characteristics are snarky, rude, or excessive narcissism, but the ability to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done.

There is stuff about characters and how to narrate correctly. It's not just about the character but how they are written and presented.

Inspirational characters are usually characters that have major flaws but still find a way to work through them.
