It is related through the amount of available information and how much of it is processed. Time is an arbitrary and man made concept based of of the earth's rotation around the sun. Essentially, everything is timeless. However the mind uses time as a record of duration. At the "time" of the earliest humans, time was not even a concept, but as humans progressed, we began to recognize patterns and symbols and formulate them into concept we can understand. Humans most likely discovered the patterns in the cycles of the seasons, phases of the moon and the alignment of the stars to keep track of longer expanses of time, outside of night and day. These cycles, for the most part, were reliable and can be counted on to explain local conditions of the environment.

As human kept progressing, societies grew and communities became closer together, which gave people more activities to occupy themselves as well as available information. This seemed to make time past faster. Literacy grew among the population and books served as the most abundant source obtaining information in a fast manner. It wasn't until our more recent history that man developed the idea of mechanical time, with the invention of the clock, which kept track of time in smaller increment. This led to people personally keeping track of time with the pocket watch.

Still by this time the majority of the population was largely agrarian, and you can imagine how slow time past when compared to today, even with shorter life expectancy. As an adult I look back on my. The progression in modern advances, such as trains and railways, the automobile and highway systems has made transportation more convenient and speeds up time. From the telegraph, telephone, radio and television, communication and information has also had the same effect. Now computers and other technological advances is the new evolution of speeding up time.

As an adult I look back on my childhood and remembered how slow time passed, while grown ups always talked about how fast it goes. In grade school, the information we received was pales compared to now, and long expanses of time were marked by the school year. The complexities and busyness of adult life makes for more activities to partake in, which passes time at a rapid rate. Our personal lives and experience seem to be a mircoscale of what civilization has gone through in the pregression of time.

  • The time frame signifies the state of mind at the particular moment in one's life experiences.
