What tests would you carry out to distinguish between solutions of sodium chloride and sodium iodide?

And what results would you expect?

    Add dil HNO3, followed by AgNO3 solution.

    The NaCl will give a much whiter precipitate of AgCl, as opposed to the NaI giving a pale yellow precipitate of AgI.

    To confirm, add dilute NH3 solution. The AgCl will dissolve, and the AgI won't.

    Add Br2 liquid seperately.NaI will give purple color I2 gas.NaCl give nothing.
