Well it was a motto that was made and echoed throughout Boston and then spread after the Boston Marathon Tragedy. Sporting events such as Bruins, Red Sox, and Revolution games were places that Boston Fans and the opposing fans joined in chanting "Boston Strong, Boston Strong" to show their support for Boston and the the victims of the tragedy

After the Boston Marathon tragedy that kind of became the city's motto. I know the Boston Red Sox did a bunch of stuff with that, not sure about the Bruins, Celtics, or Patriots
