I need help with understanding the responses to the problem of evil and the issues that each face?

I'm not totally clueless to the topic i just get confuesed sometimes.

Feel free to correct me if i get anything wrong or help me bust what i know.

five responses to the Problem of Evil and the resulting issues that

each of these replies face.

1. Evil is punishment for our sins

i don't understand this one at all

2. Counterpart – Can’t have good without evil

if there was no evil there would be no good either

3. Contrast – Can’t know good without evil

If only goodness existed it really wouldn't be appreciated. Goodness is only appreciated because humans know what it is to live without it

4. Natural Law Theodicy – Pain/evil is necessary in the workings of the world.

this one is very confusing

I know that it is split into three parts. freedom, the after life, and other beings with free will (i think)

5. Good Soul Making – pain/suffering builds character and makes you worthy of heaven

    1) Sin is predicated on the existence of a god and until one is demonstrated to exist we can throw this away.

    2) This is just stupid. You could have all good. There's nothing about "goodness" that is predicated on the existence of evil.

    3) Again silly. You don't need the opposite to realize that something is better, you just need a "less good." It's about comparison, and you don't need the exact opposite to know what something is. You can contrast white with grey, for instance, you don't need black.

    4) You can just throw out theodicy until a god is shown to exist. See #1.

    5) Again, until such a thing as heaven or soul is shown to exist there's no reason to talk about it.

Sin causes death "for the wages of sin is death." We let evil out, no other choice but to live with it, learn the difference and choose one or the other. It's just a fact of life right now. Natural laws set in place like gravity, reap what you sow/karma, it's all contained till we advance to break free to above & beyond through spiritual knowledge. God brings us to our knees, we can be willing or unwilling, depends on us, which it's going to be.

evil existed before our sins did. or we couldn't sin if there was no wrong choice to be made. we punish ourselves when we choose evil because through sin we become sick, miserable and die from our sins.

From a Christian basis, the Holy Bible is my point of reference. We believe the Bible, to be the answer to all the questions, relevant to the human being, so they can understand how evil came about, and what good and evil is all about, also how we can rise up above the seemingly, confused state, that makes up human existence. The Book of Genesis Chap.1_God, Created the heavens and the earth. Everything that God, created was good. Jump to Genesis 1v26:"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let the, have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over, the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth," V27:"So God created man in his OWN image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." V28:"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."Chp 2v7:And the Lord God Formed Man of the dust of the ground, and Breathed into his Nostrils the Breath of Life; and Man Became a Living Soul." v16:"And the Lord God COMMANDED the Man saying, "Of every tree of the Garden thou mayest freely eat."V17:"BUT of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."was created in both the image and likeness of God. An image is a representation or replica of one person or thing by another. God saw it fit to breathe into the man who was eventually called "Adam" or the first human being, eventually Eve his wife was formed out of his rib. The man and his wife owed God their soul and body so to speak. Now this is where Evil came into the world. "Now the serpent was more subtile than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" The Devil possessed the 'Serpent' and spoke through it. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and obeyed the devil, who lied to them and said they will not die. They partook of the tree, of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. V7:"And eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they were sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. NOTE they did not know they were naked, before they ate of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. 3V14&15: God cursed the serpent and Adam and Eve. By obeying the Devil, Adam and Eve gave over their Gardenership of the earth to the Devil. After eating the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, this is what happened. The were like gods, as the Devil promised them, they had a Fixed Moral Nature like God; (which they did not have before, until they disobeyed God and obeyed the Devil)But unlike God it was fixed in Sin, and Not in Righteousness. They had knowledge of Good, but were Unable to perform it or do it; then they got a knowledge of Evil, but were Unable to Resist it.This is what the world has been face with since the dawn of time or Adam and Eve. We are born in Sin and obtained Original Sin from our foreparents, Adam and Eve. We are wanting to do good, but for some reason, we fall and do evil. The Devil was given control of the earth, when Adam and Eve, were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. Satan is the 'evil god' of this world. But God sent Jesus Christ into the world, to redeem Mankind of death and destruction, to bring us back in relationship to God. Jesus being without sin, was the only One Holy to die and Save mankind from Spiritual death and separation from God. When God put Adam and Eve in the Garden, is how he wanted us to live. Adam and Eve were give Free Will, just like we have today. So Jesus Saves and is the answer. If we obey him, we gain eternal life, and we re-unite with God and Him, in Heaven,. If we do not accept his salvation, we would be eternally separated from God and heaven, and would be cast into the Lake of Fire or Hell, with the Devil, who is happy for Now. But when Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, Jesus rose from the Dead, and is with God in heaven. Speaking on behalf of all humans who accepts his Salvation Plan. Read John 3:16 and Matthew 28v18ff: God and Jesus Loves us and wishes that no human goes down to Hell, with the devil. If man continue to disobey the word of God, they would be destroyed physically, when this earth is destroyed by God and when they go into eternity, they would be cast with the Devil into Hell. We do have a choice of Heaven with God, or Hell with the Devil. Get a Bible preferably King James version and read Genesis 1 to 3 and the Gospel of John. Peace
