Is it normal not to like family?

My mum died when I was 8, and I've lived with my gramma (who passed away), my aunts and cousins since then. I moved out during college, but still visit every other weekend, since it's only about two hours away.

The thing is, I love my family but I just don't get along with them. We share precious few interests or beliefs. They're meat-lovers, I'm a plant-based eater, they're religious, I'm not. I like reading, they like TV... the list goes on and on.

I'd visit more often, but I just can't connect, and I feel guilty. Is this kind of thing normal... ish?

From the way I see it you guys just dont share the same interests, which is perfectly fine. I have nothing much in common with my family and sometimes they annoy the living life out of me, but at the end of the day I love them. I Dont show it much, say it much, and sometimes I even take them for granted but even after all the arguing, tears, etc. I still love them. Guess what? This is family and this is life.
