    as stated, thumbs,

two different animals. but the O2 sensor may need to be cleaned after a failed cat. the one after the cataverter.

    -------

    to add,

aside for the cost of the cat, labor will be about 30-50 bucks to cut out old and weld a new one in. provided the rest of the exhaust is serviceable. enough material to weld with.

the cost of the cat will vary depending on your choice and local emissions laws. new epa regs on cats. in cali, they must be individually tested with the serial number stamped on it to prove it. not all locales adopted that. but for a cali resident, that means most cats are around 250+. as we can't install, say, cheap universal one.

any reputable ASE shop or the dealer is best.

you could go to an auto parts store. checking with the counter person on what's required, epa wise. buy one. take it to a muff shop. 30-50 to have done. connecting pipes condition be a factor for added repair/cost

the biggest issue see in your post, is that cats usually don't go bad w/o a reason. damage, sure. but not simply fail. usually that's due to a faulty engine condition (generic- as lots of thing are in play there). typical of an incorrect/unstable combustion environment, ie-fuel mixtures are skewed for some reason. that needs to be diagnosed by a pro. as lots of things can cause that issue. and, the engine condition as a "whole" may need to be considered. not just a sensor this, and a sensor that.

if the cat wasn't physically damaged, need to find out why it failed. lest ye be buying them left and right.

No they are separate. Any shop that does the work will charge all of it on 1 bill. And call around someplace. Like a muffler shop or carx or merlin200000, they can give you prices that include labor.
