Why is cyber bullying so awful?

Don't get me wrong, bullying in any form is terrible, but why is there so much emphasis in the modern age on cyber bullies? Real-life bullying is just as bad, but with technology growing it seems as if people's concern about cyber bullying has grown with it.

Especially with highly-publicized cases of suicide where cyber bullying is often marked down as the primary cause - not depression. So why is it vilified to such an extreme extent, six months prison for cyber bullying seems a bit too much.

Because sometimes you can be bullied by complete strangers so it is harder to catch the perpetrators.

It is so easy for people who are victimized daily to get on the internet and bully others they don't have to worry about repercussions (no one will hit them back) I am almost certain 90% of the cyber bullying is being done by people who have been bullied. I now because I have done it and it gave me a feeling of some victory. I was teased in school for my weight and for my clothes. I wanted to and often daydreamed about killing the people who were most vicious. Then I grew up and realized those bullies were so lonely and needed to try what ever to get attention.

Because they can bully the kid when they are home or in class and in the past would have been in a safe zone. Now if they have a cell phone or go online at all they can be getting bashed most any hour of the day or night!
