42 inch Sylvania flipping channels on its own?

My 42 inch Sylvania has begun flipping channels on its own, running the volume up and down to the minimum and maximum, and NOT responding to either the remote on the buttons on the set.

the picture is GOOD as is the sound. It just refuses to stay on one channel.

what can i do? Caned air? take it in to be reprogrammed?

    First, take the batteries out of the remote control. This will rule out a problem with sticking buttons on the remote. If the problem continues, and the set has touch controls (vs. buttons), clean the touch panel very well.

    If that fails, the set requires repair by a qualified technician. You may be in for sticker shock at the repair shop and find that disposing of it and replacing it makes more sense. This is where the true cost of a low priced set really comes to surface. Funai sets, the maker of Sylvania televisions, aren't quality units.
