Why would you push a subjective view onto others?

This could be a question for anyone, though I have theists in mind. And I am a theist; I do not, however, have any desire to impress my beliefs on anyone else, and I certainly do not want to legislate my beliefs. I understand that they are subjective beliefs, and that I do not have evidence to back up my claim of divinity.

If your proof is only what you've been told and an ancient book of myths, as is the case for most religions, why would you take a stand on a belief you cannot prove and try to make others believe it?

Sure, you saw Jesus while you lay bleeding after that car accident. But you realize that's just based on your belief system, don't you? If you were a Viking lying bleeding on the field of battle, you would have seen a Valkyrie.

    Hello there JStrat,

I appreciate your honesty but disagree with your analagy. Why?

I base my spiritual concepts on a historical book called the Holy Bible and it primarily deals with the nation of Israel of whom desendents still walk the earth today. And unless you are in serious denial there is no way that this fact is not an absolute!!! One faction of that nation, the Jews, have been residing here on this globe for thousands of years. By the way you express youtself it is apparent you are intelligent so I am sure you will agree that the Jews have been around for a very, very, very, long time, correct?

So it is the "history" that verifies whether many things are true or not or at least testifies to the existence of them.

Now, let us go back to the Civil War. Should our schools stop teaching it because some of the facts could be wrong thus making it all subjective? Of course not! Could this same subjectiveness be applied to the Revolutionary War? Let's go back even further and consider Columbus. Should we never push his accomplishments because they happened so many years ago? This would be ridiculous! Now let's go back to the time of Constantine the Great. Should we never push what happened when this Roman ruler forced a meeting of all Catholic bishops trying to unite his kingdom and in the process allowed pagan customs to adulterate the true CHRISTIAN FAITH?!!! History tells us that the ends reault of this meeting (the Council of Nicea) was the amalgamation of pagan customs with Christianity! Should all persons who have knowledge just sit around and keep their mouths shut and not try to establish the truth about what happened centuries ago? And especially when there is powërful information in the Bible that urges people to ACTION???

I am one of Jehovakh's Witnesses and I know that I NEVER push my beliefs on anyone! What I do is take people inside their Bibles and let the scriptures do the talking. I will never make a statement unless it can be backed up by scripture! And why do I spend my time doing so? Because the Bible, which is established history, has many great examples of what really happened to mankind as the centuries unfolded. And it

is full of wonderful counsel that helps people survive in

a world controlled by Satan himself. (1 John 5:19)

Because most people believe that their subjective viewpoint is actually the truth. They don't really understand the whole notion of subjectivity. You seem to be an exception.

    No,

Most people who know me don't have a clue what I believe in. Most would probably assume I was an atheist lol.

Hi. While I would not accept your belief about religion, I am happy to tell you that I readily accept and respect your explanation above .

Source(s): Thank you for being honest and knowing that is the best way.

First, many Atheists say, "Why do you push your lies down our throats!" I don't understand, is someone holding a gun to your head and pushed a tin can filled with ideas down your throat and say, "You have to believe this." I don't think that would be possible. So is it that people are talking about God and you don't want to? If so, just tell them to go away. Doesn't that sound like a good idea

    it is naturally and requested.
