I cannot get into my yahoo! mail account today?

At first it said it was down due to scheduled maintenance but now it just says the system is down

It has been like this for hours now

http://us.f1614.mail.yahoo.com/ is the farm server it is trying to use now but previously it was another one and that did not work either..

Scheduled Maintenance

We are undertaking some essential, but extensive maintenance to improve Yahoo! Mail. During the maintenance period, some users may experience problems accessing Yahoo! Mail.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Your account is in great shape and we are working to have it available again as quickly as possible.

Yahoo! Mail Team

Update:

Ok because so many of you had a problem the same as mine, I took the liberty of personally contacting Marissa Mayer. Apparently she personally forwarded my email to the correct department and it is being worked upon. However as you can see below there is no estimate of when the fix will be completed:

The issue she is experiencing is a known issue and our engineers are working to resolve this as a top priority. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated time of resolution and there is no work-around for this issue. I apologize for this inconvenience, however at this time, we must wait for an update from our engineers.

Update 2:

By the way, it appears that the problem is only with SOME (maybe even only one) server farms at Yahoo! My husband can log in fine too. Just writing this because some people on the web are saying "My yahoo! account is fine.. it must be you!" Well it is not "us" - it is a problem at Yahoo!

Update 3:

Ok guys I can assure you they are working on it very very hard. The good news is that MY account is restored so that I can actually get into my account at least and they appear to have just completed rolling forward my emails from mid November through to today's date so I am now fully up to date.

Of course the problem is that some of you still are not able to get into your accounts. And for you guys all I can tell you is to monitor this page for updates: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content

I am stuck! Have been unable to get into my mailbox to retrieve or send mail. Scheduled maintenance response from yahoo is not consoling when you have to send out time-sensitive emails.

I called Yahoo and actually spoke to a guy from Brownsville, Texas. The wait was close to two hours (I'm a patient guy.) He said that they were doing maintenance and they hoped to have everything up and running soon. I asked him when he thought it would be up and running and he said he didn't know. His answers to my questions were polite but vague. I get the sense he's been getting slammed and has no idea what is going on.

    Very frustrating.

Marissa Mayer the CEO of Yahoo has destroyed Yahoo mail and doesn't seem to care or they would have responded to all the complaints when they switched to the new e-mail version.

Everyone for the most part was happy with the old e-mail but she had to change it around. Well, the new version sucks, now doesn't work and there is no accountability.

I will be moving to gmail or another email in short order.

  • Same problem here and I pay for the service with no ads. I wonder what happened to them? Surely it's not regular maintenance. I get this message when I try to log in:

Exactly. Same here. It sucks. My wife can log in from the same computer, a laptop. It doesn't matter if it is a laptop, desktop, IBM compatible, or Apple produce, Internet explorer or Google Chrome, I have tried them all to include clearing out history, memory, rebooting and logging off all computers.

I can log into Yahoo with my name and password, but it does not access the mail portion and gives me that message one time, then another says it cannot access the mail server.

Not sure what Marissa is up to, but it is not looking good for the home team. I have not had this happen in over ten years with Yahoo.

    Edit;

Thanks for the update. Very decent of you. I opted to NOT sit on the phone in wait for an hour just to get a response like that. I wonder how Marissa would function without a phone, or email account.

After being in IT for 25 years, I would expect worse case scenario of 12 hours for repair, not 48 plus, with a medium time in minutes, and a couple of hours if a horrific incident occurred.

I'm sure Marissa inherited this problem, but for stockholders sake, I sure hope she is fully aware and can make sure it does not repeat in the future. Not Good!

This is ridiculous YAHOO! I mean okay, 12 hours, 24 hours of down time but it's been two days now. I thought your site reliability team was better than that. After 18 years of having Yahoo email I am moving on! Can't be with a non dependable server!!!

Same issue here. This is really bad because my job depends on this. I had already lost my entire sent folder dealing with Yahoo. Then I lost all of my iPhone notes due to Yahoo. And now I'm directly losing money because of some important information... due to yahoo. I pay for the mail Plus services too. This is about it for me though. On to gmail I go. As much as I like Yahoo Mail Plus, I can't afford to have my inbox out for 24 Hours. That doesn't make any sense.

I have been down about a full 24 hours as well... and still going. At least I am not alone. I was beginning to think that my account was hacked. I still haven't ruled out this theory entirely but at least since so many of you are getting the same error message, it's at least a possibility that this is a legit Yahoo message....

    GIVE ME MY MAIL BACK!!

I have been without email for almost 36 hours. Rogers escalated my issue to engineering and said it would be 24-48 hours before they would get back to me. Called Yahoo directly as I didn't find that a satisfactory wait time. After being on hold with Yahoo for 30 minutes they said their call volumes were too high and unceremoniously disconnected me. Customer Care it is not!
