how to shave my bikini area properly?

I've done it just one time, last week. And it looks terrible. Red bumps and you still feel and see hair. Can you tell me step by step how to do it right? And what do you think about home wax? I'm just 13 though.

    use one of those battery powered electric bikini shavers, you won't get razor burn that way
