What does Spuyten Duyvil mean?
I see it around where I live, sometimes spelled Duval, and I think it's Scottish. Just curious.

The expression derives from the Dutch for "spouting devil". The "spuy" is related to water.
However it is also a slang term that means "in spite of the devil"
I don't know if either of these fit your context
