I think to a certain extend, yes. But i also think that a big percentage of it is inborn. It is through part and parcel of our own life that we will realised, to what extend is our being empathetic means to ourselves. Ultimately, i think we just want all to live in a peaceful and harmonious world.
I don't think we can understand if we don't have an empathetic nature because then we won't be bothered to even listen/pay attention.
