Norwegian cruise line good for college springbreakers 2014?

My friends and I are looking into possibly doing a cruise for our spring break. I've searched a lot about if Norwegian is a good cruise line for college students but a lot of the answers are from many years ago, not sure if things have changed.

We are all 21+ and want to be on a cruise with people closer to our age rather than young kids, etc.

Has anyone been on the Norwegian cruise line for spring break? What is the party scene like? Would Carnival be a better party cruise?

(Norwegian and Carnival are the only suitable ones for our spring break dates/location)

Norwegian is a great cruise line (Been on it and won't cruise any other cruise line). I find the older ships from the early 2000's tend to an older crowd as well as families. Last spring break I went on the Sun which is older and though there were younger people on board (teens, 20's) most of the people on board were older(50's 60's etc.) or had families. I've seen tv shows that the newer ships (Breakaway and Getaway) tend to be for younger crowds 20's etc and have a lot of things to do for your age group.

I have also been on Carnival (my first cruise) during a spring break their cruises tend to have lots of younger kids onboard and it wasn't the greatest experience (too many crowds, service compared to Norwegian isn't the best) and when going around at night not many people were at the clubs etc.

My opinion is if you choose Norwegian, choose the newer ships because that's where you would find the most people in your age group and have more fun party wise. Hope this helps!

Carnival is more party-party than Norwegian, but Norwegian is generally considered the better cruise line. A lot of it comes down to the specific ship. Carnival is more apt to have kids, and in my experience, parents on Carnival cruises ceded their parental duties to the staff and other passengers.

I would go on cruisecritic.com, and research the specific ships you are considering. You should be able to gauge the demographics and determine which one works for you. I've done one Norwegian, but it wasn't one of the more highly rated ships. It wasn't very good. I've done one Carnival, and I thought the food was ok, but found the ship a tad tacky, and really didn't like the mosh of kids.

My first cruise was Royal Caribbean, and it was during spring break. It was interesting but I wouldn't do it again. They had to close the pool twice because breakers barfed in it. Don't be like that. I always tell my kids, have fin, but other people are there to have finn too, so don't ruin their good time.
