I have a 2003 dodge grand caravan es, and it wont start. It does this all the time when its cold. What it does is it will start and stall about 5 or 6 times and then it wont start at all it will just crank. Then after about 5 minutes it usually starts right up. This morning was no different except now its been 4 hours and t still wont start. The alternatoris less than 2 years old and the battery is brand new from may. We replaced the starter relay, that wasnt it. We got a jump, that wasnt it. Right now its getting power but its not turning over just cranking...please help

Best to have someone troubleshoot the fuel system. Rent a fuel pressure tester at your local autoparts store. See what kind of fuel pressure reading your are getting at the fuel rail with the ignition on. Ask the clerk there to look up your recommend fuel pressure it should be about 50-60 psi. In most cases you should hear a hum for the rear when the ignition is turned on that is your fuel pump then a click from the relay when the fuel pump is turned off. The fuel pump only runs for about 2-3 seconds.

If you have no fuel pressure I would look at your fuel pump fuse and the relay.

    Hi Samantha

Try checking, plugs wires and cap and rotor button. Sounds like fouled plugs. Easy way to check is get a spray bottle with water and spray plugs, wires and cap and see if they arc or spark you need another person cranking it while you spray.Remove cap and inspect it and check rotor button for wear. Rule of thumb is if its got over 100.000 miles on it and never had a tuneup you should do one. Also do you smell gas when cranking it over? Also do you hear the fuel pump when you turn it to the On position but not starting it?

It is likely your start, from AutoZone this should be about $150 bucks when replaced yourself.

You can also check your terminals to make sure they are getting good connection to the battery, as well as check ground locations to make sure your getting a good connection there.

Alternator could be faulty, while at the auto parts store pull it off real quick (is easy) and have them test it (most do this for free).

If it be related to a fuel/ignition problem, run marvel mystery oil at your next fuel up, and clean your MAF with MAF cleaner. To get it to start in this case, you can use starter fluid spraying it in with a straw behind your MAF sensor.

if it will crank over good then it could be a dirty fuel filter ! a dirty fuel filter can restrict the flow of gas getting to the engine ! the fuel filter would be the first thing i would change !
