note it does not only mean "clothes"
Klamotten is mostly used in plural for "clothes" but it is mostly meant degoratory, so rags is not a bad translation if worn out clothes are meant.
But it can also be used colloquially for "clothes" or "fashion clothes"
(examples: "Wo habe ich meine Klamotten hingeräumt" (where did I put my clothes), "Du hast aber tolle Klamotten an" (wow, you have nice clothes on))
Klamotten can also mean also degoratory a bad theater play or stones/rocks...

One on-line dictionary is never enough, no matter the language. Bookmark this one for yourself, http://dict.leo.org/ende/index_de.html#/search=Kla... , and then remember to try both the next time. Tschuess!
