    8 times 3 = 24, add 1 = 25

    x/1 - 4/5 = 25/3

    least common multiple of 1,5, and 3 is 15

    so multiply the equation by 15

    15x-12=125

    15x=125+12=137

    x=137/15

    check

    137/15 - 4/5 =? 8 1/3

    137/15 - 12/15 = 125/15 = 25/3 = 8 1/3 Yep
