Did you know that if you ever "hope" for anything..you are exhibiting an evidence for faith?

Faith is the evidence of things hoped for..they go hand in hand...I doubt there is anyone here who will claim that they never hope for anything. God is the author and finisher of our faith.

When asked to describe my thoughts on GOD and Religion my train of thought led me right to gravity. . .

You can’t see gravity, You can’t taste it, I just know one thing for certain, that it exists.

The mystery's of faith an GOD are beyond human comprehension

Faith concerns questions which cannot be settled by evidence.

I feel bad that if someone does not have faith they would want others to agree with them!

How can the universe create itself out of nothingness? Given the fact that the universe began to exist, it must have had a “cause” that originated it.Doesn't it make more sense to assume the existence of a Creation. The question is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that GOD came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, “What does blue smell like?” Blue is not in the category of things that have a smell, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, GOD is not in the category of things that are created or caused. GOD is uncaused and uncreated—He simply exists.

We know that from nothing, nothing comes. So, if there were ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence, then nothing would have ever come into existence. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been in existence. That ever-existing being is what we call GOD ,GOD is the un-caused Being that caused everything else to come into existence. God is the uncreated Creator who created the universe and everything in it.

The universe requires a cause because it had a beginning, GOD unlike the universe, had no beginning, so he doesn’t need a cause. Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which has much experimental support, shows that time is linked to matter and space. So time itself would have begun along with matter and space. Since GOD is the creator of the whole universe, he is the creator of time. Therefore He is not limited by the time dimension He created..@

The difference between foolish 'hope' and wise 'hope' is the "evidence" behind our hope......

Foolish hope is hoping to win the lottery or to break the 'house' in vegas, when the odds are stacked against us.

Wise hope is based on evidence of things which have happened many times before and are happening on a regular, ongoing basis.

Who can be more TRUSTWORTHY than He who has created all things and promises He has a plan for our life, to give us hope and a future?

No one can be trusted as God can.....We can have Faith in Him because of the evidence we see every day......In the world....In other peoples lives!

Blessing ALL with putting away rebellion and FIND their own HOPE.

No, you are not. This a common fallacy trotted out by theists who don't understand the language!

Faith is no evidence at all! In saying so, you are merely making yourself sound very foolish and ignorant!

I can hope for something. It could be a forlorn hope - for example, I can hope to win the lottery, but I am aware of the odds against it happening! Or I could hope for something based on previous experience - like I hope my friend will visit tomorrow, she usually does on Saturdays. Neither of those cases involve faith at all!

Faith is basically accepting ideas and promises without any supporting evidence. It is ironic that theists somehow see this as a virtue!

In Romans 8v24:"For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he hope for?

V25:"But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Hebrews 11v1:"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. "This is more a definition of what faith does, more than what it is. Two truths concerning its activity are stated here. First, 'faith' provides 'substance' meaning "assurance' and this seems to be the best sense here. Second, faith provides 'evidence'. It is evidence in the sense of proof that results in conviction. The difference between assurance and evidence would be minimal were it not for the phrase qualifying each::'of things hope for' and 'of things not seen."The first involves future Hope; the second involves present realities that are unseen. The first involves the Hope of the resurrection, the return of Christ, and the glorification of the saints. The second involves unseen realities, such as the forgiveness of sin through Christ's sacrifice and the present intercession of of Christ in heaven. HOPE is Faith relating to the future; conviction is faith relating to the present

    >"Did you know that if you ever "hope" for anything..you are exhibiting an evidence for faith?"<

    Nope

    >"Faith is the evidence of things hoped for"<

No, the Bible states that faith is "confidence" in things hoped for and belief without evidence. maybe you should read the book again

No, I'm not. Faith is a belief in something. I hope that I will get the top grade for my dissertation but I do not have faith that I will get it. I'll do the best I can whilst recognising that there are others who have at least as good a chance as me of getting the highest grade.

everyone has faith in something or another. when a person flips their light switch they have faith that the light is going to turn on, even though they are unable to see the electricity which causes that to happen.

when a person turns the key in the ignition of their car, they have faith the car will start, even though they are not able to see the spark which ignites in the engine to cause the car to turn on.

when we go to bed at night, we all have faith we will awaken in the morning to start another day...even though we cannot see that day or know what it will bring.

faith is not only the evidence of things we hope for, it is also the substance of things we cannot see. all human beings exercise faith in various things every single day. so it is blindness indeed to not be able to trust that same faith we all have in temporal things to give our lives correct direction by exercising faith in God, and thereby making us pleasing to him.

Nope. Faith is belief without evidence. Hope is just wanting something to happen.

Yes... we also call it wishful thinking.

When I buy a lottery ticket and I say to someone that I hope my numbers come up... that's evidence of wishful thinking... or faith/hope as you put it.
