How long for check to clear in bank account?

I deposited my paycheck in my bank ATM machine around midnight... They released $100,but there is still a hold on $400. They explained the hold was because I didn't have enough already in there to cover the total of the check $(500).. How long before they take the hold off?? It's a corporate check from Wendy's restaurant.. So it's legit. I did this same thing last payday, and they held some of the check, but released all funds within 12 hours.

Thanks!

Banks usually make $ available within 24-48 hrs. Timing depends on a number of variables, including the type of check deposited and whether or not you made the deposit in person.

There are regulations on how long a bank can hold money for each type of deposit. If you make a deposit that doesn't fall into a category where the full amt must be made available by the next business day, then the bank is required by law to make the first $100 available.

Banks usually place a hold of two full business days on check deposits. Your bank is being a little lenient by giving you immediate access to that first $100.

its the policy of the bank. end of discussion. most ,if not all banks do this. if your so special, find yourself a bank that does not.
