Why doesn't my Canon printer scan into my HP Windows 8 laptop?
I have a Canon 3-1 MG2120 Printer but it does not scan into my Windows 8 HP laptop. I had an Acer laptop with Windows Vista before this one and it worked fine. It does print and copy but will not scan. Could it be that the printer and laptop are not compatible? I tried installing the driver and everything but it still does not scan. What can I do? Should I just get another printer?

How is your ink supply, low, empty?
This may sound stupid, and I know you do not use any ink when you try to scan, but all printer options need to be functional to make the printer complete and fully operational for use. So you will need a sufficient amount of ink in all cartridges in order to scan. A replacement ink cartridge may be necessary.

Check the printers compatibility. I had a printer that worked well with Vista and 7 but would not work with Windows 8.
There should be compatibility options in the Set up.
