does boxing work in a street fight?
I know there is more to street fighting than just punching, theres kicks, grappling more than one person weapons ect ect ect... but im referring to just the punching aspect of street fighting, so please try and ignore the other aspects of the fight for the sake of the answer please..
would you be able to block with your bare fist? I meen when gloved you can just hold your gloves up but in bareknuckle if you block without gloves you risk your arms and hands being brocken since theres no cushion on your hands or theres..
I would think that quick footwork, headmovement ( since I think using your barehands to "block" punches would just get your hands broken) and countering would be perfect in street.
also if your trained properly you should have a huge advantage in stamina as well ( most street thugs cant throw for more than 10 seconds before getting winded). and also rolling with punches would work very well as well.
so in my opinion yes boxing works very well with "slight" adjustments.
your thoughts?
sorry for any type o's. my English isn't so well. sorry for that.

Yes, boxing seems very simple, only punches, no kicks, take downs and submissions, but once you master the basics you can lethal. Heres what boxing helps with.
- Proper technique, this is helpful because you will no longer punch like an un trained fighter and telegraph your punches. Basically your punching technique will be so good your opponent wont be able to see your punches coming. Also your eyes will also be trained to see an improper punch coming, which will give you time to duck, slip or counter them.
- Power, Speed and Stamina, after training consistently for a few months you will notice that your punches will be much more powerful, and you will have much faster hands. I would say that your hands would be faster and more powerful than 95% of guys your size. Also your stamina & endurance will be very good, your arms wont get tired while you are fighting and you wont get gassed from all the training you do in boxing.
- Footwork and stance, footwork is a very underrated part of boxing. With good foot work you can quickly advance in, throw a flurry or combination and move out very quickly with proper foot work. You will also learn things such as circling to your right so that your opponents power hand wont be able to catch you, how to set up good angles for punches, how to back peddle, and never be off balance when moving. As for your stance, your stance will give you good balance, and you wont be knocked over by a punch with a proper stance, and you will also be able to throw more powerful shots in a proper stance.
- Defense, slipping, bobbing and weaving - This could be the decisive factor in a street fight. Punching is a very easy thing that anyone can do, even if they are doing it improperly, however defense is something that your average joe will not be able to do when in the situation of a street fight. Most street fights people swing in hopes of punching you and knocking you out, giving little care to getting hit. This will give you an advantage because your opponent will not be able to hit you. Also if you slip one of his puncher and it sends him off balance, you can quickly come back with a punch and it could send him to the concrete. You can block his straight punches by catching it with your palms, slip the straight right, block the hooks, or duck under them. Also if you just move your head before or after a combination your opponent will miss, and this will discourage him to throw any punches.
Chin - this is something that only some people might be able to develop with boxing. Your boxing coach will teach you to tuck your chin when boxing which will be good because your opponent wont be able to hit you in the chin and knock you out. Also if you start sparring in boxing, you will be able to take big punches a lot better, and will know how to recover by clinching, or moving away when stunned with a big shot. However some people will always have a glass chin no matter what, and will be knocked down/out after hard punches, and some people will have a granite chin no matter what.
These are the skills in boxing that will help you to defend yourself outside of the ring. If you use your knowledge and skills in boxing the right way, you will defeat and untrained, bigger fighter the majority of the time. I would say the ideal way to use boxing in a street fight is to start out by jabbing him to the face, and occasionally throwing the right cross, and then when he tries to throw his punch, pull the trigger, block his punch and throw fast flurries to the face, back up and go back to your jab, and repeat. In MY opinion, boxing is the most effective striking art in the streets, even better than muay thai. Muay thai doesnt teach much defense from punches, doesnt teach you very good footwork which will make it harder to move in while punching, and move to the side or back when being punched at, and a muay thais fighters hands are no where near as fast, good and powerful as a boxers.
BTW I have been in a few street fights and I would say there is more of a chance of your arm being broken while blocking a punch in a boxing match. In a boxing match you are boxing somebody with real power and you will repeatedly block his hard punches against your arms for 3 minutes x however many rounds. I have never injured my arm by blocking a punch in the street, or in the ring however.

I don't care how many boxing glasses you take or how long you box. You could be a good boxer, but if you don't have the fight instinct that most tough street fighters have you’re not going to win on the streets... Boxing would be best for street fights, but if you’re a person that is going to freeze up in a street fight where anything goes (knifes, rocks, bottles, guns, chains) you’re not going to be able to use your boxing skills... I know boxers that clean out 8 people in a street fight within seconds (that's if these people aren't professionally trained) but I also know good boxers that have great skill and whoop as in the ring, but when it comes to street fight they freeze up, meaning they get their *** whooped. Boxing would help in a fair street fight, but whose to say there are fair street fights, you never know the guy infront of you.

Boxing is one of the most needed skills in a fight.
Don't forget that Boxer beats fighters 65% of the time. But you do have to have the good foot work, elusiveness and quick deadly punches. Kicking and grappling takes alot of energy and is only best for defense anyways. Plus is burns alot of energy trying to take down an even strong man who has basic takedown defenses.

Boxing is not the same as street fighting. In the street, there's jungle rules + no referee.
Punches: you might be able to successfully avoid a punch by deflecting it with your forearm.
Stamina: you'd usually be correct
Rolling: rolling with a bare knuckle punch might still get you hurt

No boxing doesn't work in a street fight. Any trained boxer who beats someone up will at least land in jail and/or be sued for a ton of money, and if the boxer has money, any lawyer would be watering at the mouth to cream him in a court room, and it won't cost the victim a dime to sew.

It depends. If it's a stand up fight and no tackles come into play, then a boxer would win. But if a boxer gets tackled it might go down hill.

boxing will only help in stand up game. remember 95% percent of fights end on the ground. so no and plus they don't teach to defend a kick. i recommend wrestling and kickboxing . krav maga is the best of the two.
