I want to start a petition at my school.....?

I am in 8th grade ( middle school ) and I want to start a petition at my school to revoke the rule 'no unnatural hair colors'. The school says that unnatural hair colors are distracting and excessive. I'd say I have 3-4 liable reasons why students SHOULD be able to die their hair. I just need some tips on how to present/get started on my petition. Thanks!

    List out the rules you want changed

    List out alternatives for the current rules (for instance, if a rule is no hats in school, suggest an alternative like Friday is Hat Day). This will show that you have thought this out and are flexible.

    FInd a teacher/adult/parent that you think will be supportive of your ideas and discuss it with them to get ideas/suggestions.

    Get signatures from students that support the petition.

    Ask for a meeting with the principal, school staff, or board of education to discuss petition.
