how can i cure my lizard?

I think my lizard might have salmonella. He is a juvinile savannah monitor, and is currently going through a shed. He has a white crust erupting from his unshed skin and down his tail. If it is a problem what causes it, is it, and how can i cure it.

It's not salmonella. You probably do not have him in a proper enclosure. Does he have at least a foot of dirt to dig in? Does he have a basking spot that gets his perch to 140F? Is the top solid with just some air vents?

Is the cage big enough? Humid enough? How often do you feed him and how much?

If you have him in a fish tank with a screen lid, you're killing him slowly. No matter what the pet store said, or how they had him. No matter that someone else had one a year. He'll end up dying.

Look up a good varanid site and read the caresheets there. Don't get a caresheet from a pet store or read on a regular pet site. Go to an actual varanid site.
