what is the best camera for me to buy?
im looking for a new camera to take videos with. it needs to be under $250, capable of using an external audio jack, shoot in 1080p, and easy to upload to youtube with good video and audio quality. i will mainly be using it for cooking videos but every now and then something else indoors. it also needs to be able to fit on a tripod (don't know if that is a universal thing with cameras)
any ideas?

Many still cameras have video functions, and especially the DSLRs with video produce decent enough results. If you only want to record an occasional video clip, then sure…… no problem.
However, if video is important to you, you are MUCH better off with a camcorder.
At this point in time, they still do a much better job (and are much more user-friendly) at video and audio recording than still cameras can.
So have a look at camcorders here first: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/, pick a few favourite ones, then study them in details at the manufacturer's website.
Yes, they will all have a tripod screw - those are basically universal.

Canon PowerShot SX260 can be a good choice. I needed a small camera to use at work. The zoom works very well and I've been able to capture really good photos of natural scenes such as evening sky shots, snow scenes, geese on a pond etc. It's easy to use and the controls (iso, exposure, shutter speed) are easy to set up and change as needed.

This question screams camcorder. You cannot buy a camcorder camera using this section, because is devoted to still shoots and expect great video's. If I where you I would resubmit your question in the camcorder section of Yahoo Answers.'
Good Luck
