Singers performing live can earn either a percentage of ticket sales or a flat fee per show, depending on the venue and contract. A night of original songs can earn a live performer between $75.00 and $125.00 per show in larger cities such as New York or Boston, while singers specializing in covers – songs other than their own originals – can earn $150.00 to $300.00 per show, according to a 2010 Berklee College of Music report. Widely known singers and bands attract larger audiences and earn substantially more money.
