Get rid of red gums fast?

I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago and my gums were a darker pink. The hygenist kept poking them and then they kept getting more and more red. Then she brought the dentist in. He said to come back in a month and see if your gums are better looking then or else we might have to bring you to your family doctor for other help. I do admit I only brush my teeth once a day for about a minute and not even very hard and I dont floss or use a mouthwash. The dentist told me to take vitamin C and it might help but I forgot about it and didnt take any. I have to go back to the dentist on thursday and its now sunday. I dont know what to do. My only option is going to the dentist and facing him but I could probably reschedule. Is there any fast ways to get rid of red puffy gums in a few days? Im really worried please help.

  • There may not be treatments that will get rid of your red, puffy gums in a matter of days. Red, swollen, or puffy gums are common signs of periodontal disease. Also known as gum disease, periodontal disease is a silent, painless, bacterial infection that often goes undetected or ignored until severe gum and bone destruction catch the individual’s attention. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to pain, infection, loss of gums, loss of bone, and eventual loss of teeth. Long-term effects include increased risk for heart disease, stroke, some cancers and even stillbirths. Up to 85% of American adults suffer from some form of gum disease—and most don’t even know it. If you do have gum disease, you’ll want to discuss treatment options.

There’s a treatment called the LANAP® protocol— a laser-based, patient-friendly way to treat gum disease. It’s a great alternative to the traditional cut-and-sew surgery which can sometimes scare patients away from getting the treatment they need.
