video recording consent laws?
I am working with a local team to put together a reality show and a part of this will include of recording people who are not the "main cast". Do we have to have written consent from everyone who is taped? We are located in Alabama where I know I can record conversations as long as I can prove i'm apart of the conversation but I don't know about the legal part of video recording.. I would think it would be close to the same but I do need all the advice I can get.
the show is going to be based of low limit poker. there will be a hand full of people who are followed around in our every day lives. when we go to poker games or golf courses or bars, there will be other people around us. do we need to have releases from those people or not? mostly at the poker halls though.. at other places, we'll figure it out later but if we cant get pasted the first stage or the poker halls, nothing else matters..

You will need releases from everyone whose face or voice is on the show. You're looking at wiretapping and recording laws, but you need to understand that there's a different set of laws that come into play when you want to make commercial use of someone's likeness.
