¿Se supone que se escriba Guerra del '98 con apostrofe en el 98?

Mi lector de tesis me dijo que le pusiera apostrofe al 98 pero yo nunca he visto en ningún documento que se refiera a esa guerra que se le ponga apostrofe al 98

    el apostrofe solo sirve para denotar en que decada fue... si te lo pide tu lector de tesis solo hazlo feliz pero muchas veces no es indispensable... solo es una formalidad creo yo...

    Sí, porque el apóstrofe sustituye a los dos primeros dígitos (19).
