How can I woo this girl over?

Okay so I have been deeply infatuated (not stalkerish) with a girl for more than a year. We had each other in Art class and we sat next to each other. I was always sweet and kind to her like giving her compliments on her appearance or her artwork. We never really spoke outside the class too much I would say hi to her and she would say hi back. She left the school I go to so she could go to community college and get an associate's while getting her diploma. I never really got her number but we became friends through facebook which is just as good nowadays. We hadn't talked in 7 months until I got the nerve to start up a conversation with her today and we talked on good terms but the conversation was brief maybe about 5 minutes, the good point is that she responded almost immediately to my message, the bad is that it seemed a little one sided. I don't wanna come off as desperate but I really do care about this girl. She had silky brunette hair with hightlights, gorgeous hazel eyes and an angelic voice. I really like her because we share some similar beliefs and the fact she had self respect which I really admire in a girl. It just killed me to hold onto my feelings for as long as I did and I refuse to hold it any longer. I was thinking about messaging her through facebook every so often and then maybe ask her if she has a kik app on her phone to see if we could talk from there take it slow and then after a while ask her to the movies. Is there any way I could make her see me in a different light? What can I do to make consider giving me a chance? Is it possible? What should I do to romance her a bit? For ex. she loves fast and furious and her birthday is on Valentine's day. Thanks for your responses!
