I have a needy cat and a baby on the way?
My cat sleeps next to me or at least in my room every night. He cuddles up to me and I'm worried that it will be a problem when my baby is born. What if he wants to cuddle next to me and the baby. I really don't want to get rid of my cat.

WELL A COUPLE OF THOUGHTS...I would never lay with the baby on the bed where the cat has been or with the cat...I think the baby needs a crib and you and the cat can continue to sleep like you do....although I would change my pj top before cuddling baby.
I would use a small baby blanket to give t the cat...after it has some baby scents on it..
I think you will see cats really do not care for baby crying and all the new sounds and your focus change will switch it up for the cat...
I think you can find cat time and baby time and I would still make the cat comfortable but with a baby I would never leave them together
you will have to vacuum and clean the house prior to baby...rid the house of as much cat hair as possible
you will have to be very mindful of hand washing
but overall, relax...you can have the best of both worlds..my friend had a cat like this...hubbie erected crib prior to baby and the cat was delighted with the new crib...thinking it was a new cat bed..the cat started sleeping in it... so they got a bassinet for the baby.
in reference to the first answer...the baby is never left alone with the cat....but the cat does not need to be totally displaced...

You should not have let your cat sleep in your room. Certainly once you realized you were pregnant you should have put the cat out of the room and shut the door.
It is best for a baby to share their mother's room at night, at least until they sleep through the night. You do realize that cats are a danger to babies, because the cats like snuggling up to something warm, and might curl up on the baby's face and smother them?
I had a cat when my daughter was a baby, and would never leave them alone in a room together.

It may not be nearly as much of an issue as you think. Do shut the bedroom once the baby is born (no, you did not have to do that as soon as you realized you were pregnant). My cat got over no longer being allowed in our bedroom after the first night, she seemed to realize we were only taking care of our 'kitten'.
