Trying to work while disabled.?

I don't know where to start, I have a disability and have been on SSDI for a while. I work 20 hours a week and earn a small salary but is enough to help with medicine, for necessary things. Employers have never offered a full time position because of my disability and social security checks on me to see if I have earned the amount of money at a SGA level. I'm scared to death they would take that money away, I am alone and have no one to help me. If I quit my small job I will really be hurt. Can I continue to work and draw my disability payments which I worked very hard for before I became disabled?

I'm not sure why you're suddenly worried. As long as you continue as you have been nothing will change.

Employers generally don't offer part-time employees fulltime jobs, because they assume the employee wanted the part-time job for whatever reason. Add to that, they don't usually go around to different employees to see if they want something better. They wait for employees to ask. Other employers don't usually go around to other jobs looking to fill their positions, simply because there are easier ways to find new employees.

Since you can work 20 hours a week, why not look for a better job that pays you enough that you can stop worrying about how much Social Security checks in on you? Why not look for a fulltime job and get off Disability? Apparently you can work. In the meantime keep what you have. It sounds like you have the best of both worlds--you're getting monthly income, until you can find a fulltime job, and you found out you're healthy enough to work. You are most definitely allowed to go back into the fulltime job market once your disabilities are no longer stopping you from working. Congratulations. Wish I had that choice.
