Treasury check on hold?
I deposited a US treasury check that was over 5k.My bank released the first 5k and put a hold on the remaining balance for ten business days. I've had the account for a few years with no overdrafts or anything bad.The check cleared but the bank is still holding the funds until the tenth business day.Can they do that?

It is highly unusual to place holds on US Treasury checks.
Banks can place a hold of 7 business days on checks over $5,000.
US Treasury Checks should not have that long a hold!
