strep throat agony, antibiotics not helping?
I tested positive for strep throat Monday morning.my doctor said my throat looked terrible.he gave me cephlexin and told me to take double the doses for the first two days to jump start it because it looked terrible.it's now day three.my fever is gone but the pain in making me crazy.I finally got a flashlight and looked at my throat in the mirror.it looks like scrambled eggs. Asher forty eight hours on double strength antibiotics shouldn't the pain at least have diminished? Why is my throat so pusy?

No. After 48 hours you aren't contagious but the Keflex isn't to cure the infection. It will go away in about a week with or without the antibiotic. The med is to reduce the Strep numbers to below an infectious level (not eradicate them) so you won't have post-Strep complications. Sorry, tweedledee, but "pusy" isn't a word. You have pus because dead white blood cells, dead bacteria and other debris accumulate with some infections. Apparently yo have a severe case. Have you tried hot salt water gargles? And definitely use Chloraseptic anesthetic throat spray, lozenges or dissolving strips for the pain.
Oh, and that garbage above me is spam about skin care. Don't go there.
