Christmas day is a celebration of Santa and Frosty and gifts and shopping and Christmas cheer and hot chocolate.

Christmas is the religious celebration of the birth of christ to Christians. To non Christians, it is a national holiday because it has been declared a national holiday..Non Christians can not go to work on Christmas day if the office is closed . Non Christians will receive a check IF the boss is handing out Christmas/end of the year bonuses for a job well done. It is not a bonus check for being a good Christian. Jesus was not born on dec. 25.

    ?????

Uh, it isn't atheists who decide what days are holidays.

    LOL, you ARE funny.

People don't deserve an end of year bonus because they believe in a dead guy, or an imaginary Sky Bully; if a boss gives bonuses, it would be WRONG to deny it to people because they're not believers.

And, if a company closes, and pays employees anyway, it would be WRONG to refuse to pay non-Christians, who aren't allowed to work on that day.

It's amusing when one considers how many believers think ONLY believers can be moral, to see YOU have no grasp of right and wrong at all.

The POINT is that it has BECOME a national holiday that workers are usually given off. That simple concept is obviously to hard for YOU to understand -- and probably everything else is too hard for you to understand.

LOL -- we are aware of why it's called Christmas. Not EVERYONE is a complete moron -- I realize morons don't understand this, as they know ONLY about being morons.

IF JC existed, he was NOT born on Dec 25.

You have posted a question that is pitifully misinformed. Christmas is a holiday that was stolen from pagans who celebrated the Winter Solstice, i.e. the return of light. The pagans were reluctant to give up their winter celebration so the Catholic Church dubbed it "the birth of Christ" day of celebration.

Among the many pagan symbols incorporated into this holiday are:

The evergreen wreath as a symbol of everlasting life.

Red balls on the Christmas tree= the return of the sun or the Winter Equinox.

As an atheist I take this opportunity to congratulate each and every one of you on the successful completion of your annual trip around the Sun.

    Happy New Year!

  • Because Christmas is a national holiday in over 3/4s of the countries in the world.

Why do "Good Christians" keep trying to take that away from those who are NOT Christians?

Just as early Christians co opted a pagan winter festival for Christmas, so has the secular world claimed Christmas as a day of cheer, giving cheer, and having family and friends over. It no longer and has not been just a Christian holiday for years.

It's a national holiday so they don't have to work. It's a big holiday in Japan where Christians are in the minority. Have fun.

I guess you haven't noticed that the retail stores and other secular entities have completely taken over Christmas for reasons of PROFIT.

Good point.. they yell like hell about Christmas, but sure don't mind the perks. what hypocrites!
