Minecraft, Viruses, & Apple products?

All-in-one question, folks. A relative of mine is tired of getting viruses on their PC while playing Minecraft. A have a few questions, and I would greatly appreciate any information:

#1 - Should playing Minecraft cause viruses on a PC?

#2 - Can you play ALL VERSIONS and ALL ASPECTS of Minecraft on Apple products? My understanding is that there are different ways in which you can play Minecraft. I don't play it, so I don't even understand that. My understanding is that you can create games, or you can play the game in different ways. Maybe you can fill me in on what that means. Most important - I need to know if you can play Minecraft in all its variations on various Apple products. MacBooks? iPads? What else? Any limitations with Apple?

#3 - Is there anything you can do to prevent viruses attacking while playing Minecraft on a PC?

#4 - Is there any risk of viruses on Apple products?

THANK YOU for any help you might be able to offer!!! It's greatly appreciated, and equally appreciated if folks wouldn't just speculate without actually knowing what they're talking about.

    To put stuff bluntly...

    1) Minecraft is released "virus free" from their update servers... so unless you installed a HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE MOD, you shouldn't be getting a virus.

    2) Considering that Minecraft is made in Java, it's OS-independent & therefore should work just fine on Macs. There might be some control quirks, but it should play just fine.

    3) First, PERFORM A COMPLETE VIRUS CAN ON YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE PLAYING MINECRAFT... as there's probably something lurking on your system.

Second, get a good firewall program... This will help prevent malicious connections from getting in (nor malicious programs that are trying to sneak your personal data OUT).

    4) Macs, just like every other computer, do carry risk of viral infections. Unlike some of their old ads, Macs are not immune to viruses. They just don't get infected with the same type of viruses that Windows & Linux systems can pick up. So you'll still need to get an anti-virus program for it.

    1. No

    2. I believe so

    3. Antivirus/firewall (shouldn't happen anyway)

    4. Yes

Malware is probably already on the computer, just maybe active every time the game is launched. If it's a cracked game the antivirus could be detecting it unintentionally.

    1) It won't cause any viruses unless you get a bad cracked version

    2) Yes, but iPhone, iPad, and iPod minecraft vary and have a different interface

    3) Keep your AntiVirus running and Firewall as well

    4) If you buy it on minecraft.net you'll have no trouble, but cracked versions aren't very reliable
